Supporting Learners with Dyslexia/Specific Learning Difficulties

This is a very practical course for teaching assistants or anyone supporting learners with dyslexia or Specific Learning Difficulties. The course comprises 6 three-hour sessions. 

The course will take place at Helen Arkell on Friday mornings 9:30 – 12:30

The sessions are:

  13 March

 Overview of Dyslexia and SpLDs

  20 March

 Introduction to Phonological Awareness and Phonics

  27 March

 Learning Preferences and Multi-sensory Teaching

    24 April

 Reading Accuracy and Comprehension

      1 May

 Spelling and Writing

    15 May

 Numeracy

 

You will be shown lots of useful, tried and tested strategies to enable you to support learners effectively.  You will also have the opportunity to make attractive, practical resources that you will be able to use with your learners.

This course is not accredited, so there are no assignments to complete.

Fee

The fee for the 6 week course is £275.

If you do not wish to do all 6 sessions, you can attend individual sessions at a cost of £60 per session.

You will receive a Helen Arkell Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course/session.
