We’re pleased to be welcoming Caroline Bateman of Achieve Now back to our next Support Group meeting on 11th September at 7pm here at the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.
Caroline will be speaking to the group about the vast range of technology available that can encourage reluctant readers.
Children that find reading easy read tend to read a lot.
Children that struggle with reading tend to avoid it at all costs. Unfortunately these are the very children that need reading practice the most but it’s so painful and unenjoyable they can sometimes develop a lifelong hatred of reading. Any persuasion from parents can lead to arguments and general family disharmony.
Technology exists that can make reading far more palatable - even enjoyable -for struggling readers, enabling them to expand their vocabulary, learn to express themselves and perhaps even begin a lifelong love of reading.
If you would like to attend the support group please email [email protected] for more details.
Caroline Bateman brings her professional, and personal dyslexia experience together in this workshop. All three of her children were failing at school until Caroline gave up her career in the IT industry to help them. Inspired by their success, Caroline started running after-school clubs to help improve attainment using technology. This enabled her to further develop techniques to empower many learners. Concerned that numerous students are struggling needlessly, she welcomes any opportunity to teach students, parents and educational professionals, wanting all to achieve their true potential.
