Lisa Lynch

Lisa is an experienced Practitioner Psychologist/Educational Psychologist with a background in dyslexia research.  She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Sheffield and was part of the team that standardised the Dyslexia Screening Test (preschool, junior and senior versions) and the Dyslexia Adult Screening Test.  It was there that she completed her Ph.D. in computer-aided approaches to reading difficulties (Dyslexia, EAL and specific comprehension difficulties).

Lisa has worked as a lecturer in cognitive psychology and research methods and was part of the training team at Dyslexia Action assisting specialist teachers and other professionals to understand the theory behind their practice and to develop their assessment and report writing skills.  She enjoyed teaching the psychology, statistics and assessment aspects of the course so much that she went on to complete it herself to deepen her understanding of teaching strategies and support for younger children (gaining a distinction).

Lisa loves learning and has completed further training so that she can assess for dyspraxia (post 16) and dyscalculia.  She can also screen for ADHD (post 16) and works with individuals with autism to create bespoke assessments of their learning needs and to investigate co-occurring SpLD’s.

Lisa is interested in removing barriers and helping individuals reach their potential across the age range.  She works with children and adults (primary, secondary, FE/college, youth offending teams, University/HE level and has extensive experience as a workplace based Dyslexia/SpLD assessor).  She has a particular interest in technology and the liberation it can provide.

Lisa is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and is a registered Educational Psychologist with the HCPC.  She is also a Member of the Dyslexia Guild (as specialist tutor/qualified SpLD study skills tutor) and member of ADSHE (Association for Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education).  She currently splits her time between working for the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, the University of West England, raising her children, and a very demanding spaniel.
