It is my privilege to be associated with the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre as one of their ambassadors. From the earliest beginnings of my professional career in Dyslexia I have been greatly influenced by the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre. I recall their innovative early conferences, which did a great deal to influence the direction of the kind of support that should be available for children and adults with Dyslexia - at a time when very little was available. I have always been impressed by the insights they have shown in leading the way in research, development and in practice. I know for sure that many others; individuals with dyslexia, professionals in all capacities and the other voluntary associations in the UK and internationally have also followed the lead provided by the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre.
In my current role as an ambassador and a member of their team of psychologists I am impressed by their professionalism, sincerity and genuine desire to do what is best for the dyslexia community at large. They 'practise what they preach' and they are at the forefront of all the current major developments in Dyslexia. From all sides - personal, professional and political - advice from the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre is much sought after and highly respected.
I hope that HADC continues to receive the support and acknowledgement that they deserve and I am sure I speak for the many thousands who are indebted to the Centre for enhancing their careers through professional training and the many thousands of children and families whose lives have been enriched by the facilities, information and the resources of the Centre. I am also impressed by the commitment and openness of the staff at HADC.
