Beverley has worked for HADC since 1998, initially as a specialist teacher, assessor and course tutor and previously as Head of Professional Training.
Her previous role included organising, lecturing and tutoring on the professional training courses. The courses at HADC are recognised by the awarding body’s external verifiers as being of an excellent standard. Beverley also managed HADC’s team of specialist assessors (HASAs), providing them with continuing professional development and ensuring the quality of their reports.
Beverley has also organised bespoke training sessions for individuals, as well as groups and delivered in-service training to schools, colleges and local dyslexia associations.
She is particularly interested in dyscalculia and how specific learning difficulties impact upon mathematical skills. Beverley has written and delivered a short and highly practical Level 3 course for Teaching Assistants, entitled ‘Supporting numeracy skills’. During 2015 Beverley has also participated in the Standards and Testing Agency’s Inclusion Panel for the Professional Skills Tests for prospective teachers in numeracy.
Before coming to the Centre, Beverley worked in a local infant school, identifying and supporting children who were experiencing difficulties in their learning. For a short period of time, Beverley also assessed students at a local college.
