Helen Barrett works at HADC as a tutor on the OCR Level 5 Diploma course, a specialist teacher and assessor.
Helen first became involved with HADC when she attended the HELP course for parents in order to find out ways of supporting her own children who have specific learning difficulties. Helen continued on to complete the Level 3 course for teaching assistants intending to work in that area. She enjoyed the course so much that she carried on to complete Level 5 and Level 7 giving her the qualifications to teach and assess learners with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia.
Helen teaches learners from KS1 to KS3, working in a multisensory and active way. She is passionate about helping children reach their potential by overcoming the barriers to their learning, and by finding strategies to exploit the many positive and remarkable differences that come with having dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
