Helen Bretherton

Helen Bretherton BSc (Hons), MPhil, Dip OCR (SpLD), SpLD APC

Helen has worked as a Learning Support Assistant in a local primary school for the last eight years, as a classroom TA and one-to-one with children with some very complex learning needs.  A whole new world opened up for Helen when she worked with a Helen Arkell trained specialist teacher.  Her interest was further spurred when her son was diagnosed with Dyslexia and her school hosted a Dyslexia training course.  She then signed up for the Level 5 OCR Diploma in Specialist Teaching with Helen Arkell and followed that with the Level 7 OCR Diploma in Specialist Assessing and was thrilled to have gained a distinction for both.

Helen still works part time in the same school in the dual role as a specialist Dyslexia teacher and assessor and Forest School leader.  She was delighted to be asked to work for Helen Arkell as a Specialist Assessor and feels very privileged to be working in such an amazingly supportive and positive environment as Helen Arkell.
