Rachel Gordon, BA (Hons), PGCE, Dip OCR (SpLD)
Rachel is a qualified Specialist Teacher and a Tutor for the OCR Level 5 Diploma course. She is committed to helping students develop their skills as specialist teachers so that they are equipped to teach and support learners with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia. Rachel also works as a Helen Arkell Specialist Assessor.
Rachel has previous experience as a qualified primary teacher, with experience teaching in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and has been a Year 4/5 Class Teacher. It was as a teacher that Rachel’s interest in dyslexia developed, with the recognition that she needed to better understand how to support those with this specific learning difficulty. She loves to see learners discover their strengths and grow in confidence as they develop new strategies for learning, thus enabling them to succeed.
Prior to teaching, Rachel worked in publishing, with experience in both publicity and editorial roles. She has also taught English as a foreign language while living abroad, and has worked with the Speech and Language Therapy Services in schools, supporting children with speech and language difficulties.
