This course is designed for SENCOs and Specialist Teachers who hold the OCR Level 5 qualification in teaching learners with SpLD and who would like to extend and update their knowledge of standardised tests for use in informing specialist teaching programmes and interpreting specialist teacher assessor reports. The course will include a mixture of lectures, workshops and discussion.
Participants will have the opportunity to recap and develop their knowledge in the following areas:
Understanding of standardised tests and common terminology used for reporting scores
Cognitive processing skills – memory and phonological awareness and processing
Experience a range of standardised assessment materials which assess memory, phonological skills and attainments, including reading, writing and numeracy. These will include the Phonological Assessment Battery 2 (PhAB-2), Test of Auditory Processing Skills 3rd edition (TAPS-3), Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT4), Test of Word Reading Efficiency (TOWRE 2), Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH), and Diagnostic Reading Analysis (2nd edition) (DRA). If time, other tests may be included to supplement the above list, at the course presenters’ discretion.
You will be given guidance on using the new HAST-2 test and will be able to purchase it at the special introductory price of £35.00 which includes a photocopiable record sheet.
