The Virgin Money London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event in the UK - runners have raised over £830 million for good causes since the race began in 1981. The course follows an iconic route taking in many of London's landmarks, from the Cutty Sark and the City to St James' Park and The Mall.
As well as helping to change the lives of people with dyslexia, there are some great benefits to joining our team for the Virgin Money London Marathon. Put dyslexia first and we will support you through every step of your journey.
Every penny you raise will go towards our bursary fund. This crucial fund provides financial help for those in need of our services and is at the heart of our charity.
Our bursary supports many adults as well as children.
For example, our bursary fund supported two children at Hollycombe Primary School:
"I am writing to express our heartfelt thanks for the bursaries which enabled two of our children to receive six sessions of specialist teacher support last term. The children involved gained so much in terms of specific support but also of raised self-esteem and belief in themselves as learner. For one girl, this has been transformational and she is on-track to achieve well in her end of Key Stage assessments, with support from the appropriate access arrangements. Your help so far has been invaluable."
Tamsin Austoni, Headteacher
By running for Helen Arkell you will be genuinely changing people's lives.
As a small charity, without any direct government funding, we rely on the generosity of the public to enable us to provide our expert services to those people who need it most.
For that reason, please forgive our questionnaire which requests details of how you plan to raise the sponsorship - as a charity we need to select the people who are most determined to do their best for Helen Arkell and raise the highest amount of money they possibly can.
Together we will make a difference in the world, by putting dyslexia first.
Already have your own place?
If you already have a place and paid your entry fee through the event organisers you can join our team as an Own Place runner. There's no minimum fundraising target, just raise as much as you can. Thank you!
