At The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre near Farnham in Surrey
This course is designed for professionals who work within the FE/HE sector and would like to update their diagnostic assessment and report writing skills. It would also be useful for assessors currently working with the under 16 age group, who wish to extend their skills and work into the older age ranges and provide assessment for students and adults in the workplace.
The course will include a mixture of lectures, discussion and practical activities.
Requirements for this course
Level 7 qualification in assessing learners with SpLD or equivalent.
The Course Participants will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and update their skills in the following areas:
- Reflecting on their own assessment practice
- Planning an assessment, including choosing a range of tests to suit different learner profiles
- Recognising the importance of different SpLD profiles
- Providing recommendations and advice on reasonable adjustments for advanced education courses, university and the workplace
Accredited by the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) and therefore suitable for the core hours of Continued Professional Development, which will be required when renewing Assessment Practising Certificates (APC).
