Feeling festive? Come and see our entry in the local Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's Church, Frensham this weekend. Titled 'Helen's Tree of Inspiration' it's created in loving memory of the founder of our charity, Helen Arkell.
Helen lived a full and inspirational life, as a pioneer in the world of dyslexia, pushing back boundaries of knowledge. She was awarded an MBE in 1999 for her services to people with dyslexia and in 2003 was honoured as a ‘Pioneer to the Life of the Nation’.
Many felt the benefit of her support, advice and expertise as she battled to ensure dyslexia was taken seriously. Her influence all the stronger because of her infectious laugh, twinkling eyes and sense of humour.
We have so much to thank Helen for, particularly setting up this charity. The words and pictures on the tree reflect our memories of Helen and her work.
St Mary's Church is open Saturday 7th December, 11am-6pm and Sunday 8th December, 11am-5pm.
