We held our annual Graduation Ceremony for 2013-2014 Level 5 and Level 7 Diploma students on 18th March 2015 in the beautiful surroundings of Farnham Castle. In total, 45 candidates graduated for Level 5 and 12 for Level 7.
Our guest speaker this year was our trustee, Sir Andrew Carter, who shared with us some wonderful stories of life in school and details of the recently published report for the Government, ‘Carter review of initial teacher training’. A slip of the tongue by Yvonne Whitestone (Head of Education) led to Sir Andrew being dubbed Saint Andrew – a title he is most certainly, in our opinion, worthy of!
Other guests included the Mayor of Waverley and her Consort; Lynn Greenwold, who was awarded the OBE for services to dyslexics in the 2015 New Year’s honours list, a fact that we could not let pass by without celebrating with her; Mel Byrne, Director of the Dyslexia SpLD Trust; and many of our Trustees.
For the first time Helen Arkell was sadly unable to join us, however we were delighted that her grandsons Tom Arkell and Peter Gotke joined us to represent Helen. Tom Arkell presented the awards.
It was a fantastic evening celebrating the hard work and success of our inspirational students. We are constantly amazed and incredibly proud of the dedication of our students and the calibre of the work produced. Congratulations to Tory Sparks who won the much coveted Essay prize.
Congratulations go to Patricia King-Fretts for Level 5 Primary and Robert Jennings for Level 5 Secondary overall winners and to Alex Pemberton for the overall Level 7 prize.
