We held our annual Graduation Ceremony for 2014-2015 Level 5 and Level 7 Diploma students on 16th March 2016 in the beautiful surroundings of Farnham Castle.
Our guest speaker this year was Kate Griggs. Kate gave us a fascinating insight into the history of Millfield school, founded by Boss Meyer in 1935. The Millfield method of teaching led to the school gaining fame as the first in the country to deal successfully with dyslexic pupils.
Kate Griggs announced the recent launch of Dyslexia United along with the message to promote positivity and to celebrate the advantages of dyslexia.
Dr Gavin Reid spoke to the students about his experience of being trained at the Helen Arkell Centre, giving him a real understanding of the commitment shown by our students.
Kate Griggs and Tom Arkell (Helen Arkell’s grandson) kindly presented certificates and Gavin Reid presented the awards to the prize winners.
Other guests included Mark Wilkinson and our trustees, Jilly Steventon, Dr Andrew Kaye and Charles Eve, along with our new trustees, Tom Arkell and Paul Cowell.
It was a wonderful evening celebrating the hard work and success of our inspirational students. Congratulations go to Pippa Cooper for Level 5 Primary and Emma Kelly for Level 5 Secondary overall winners and to Nikita Sturgess and Patricia King-Fretts for the overall Level 7 prize. Congratulations to Elizabeth Owens who won the much coveted Level 7 Essay prize.
